Furman Falls at Wofford, 66-62

Hodges Finishes with 11th Double-Double of the Season

Spartanburg, S.C. – Tierra Hodges led three Paladins in double figures on Saturday afternoon as the Furman women's basketball team dropped a 66-62 decision in conference play to the Wofford Terriers from Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.

Furman falls to 14-8 on the season and 4-3 in SoCon play while Wofford improves to 12-10 overall and 5-2 in the league.

Hodges compiled her team-leading 11th double-double of the season to lead the Paladins with 16 points, on 7-of-9 shooting, and 11 rebounds to go with four assists. Celena Taborn concluded the game shooting 6-of-8 from the field and finished with 14 points. Milica Manojlovic compiled 12 points and three assists.

Chloe Wanink led all players with a game-high 18 points for the Terriers and was joined in double figures by Cairo Booker (11), Da'Ja Green (11) and Alexis Tomlin (10). Defensively, Booker and Green each had five rebounds. Wanink, Booker and Green all dished out four assists.

Furman held a 54-49 lead with 6:32 remaining in the game after Manojlovic knocked down a 3-pointer. Wofford came back with a 13-4 run over the next 4:18 to take a 62-58 lead at the 2:14 mark. Hodges made 1-of-2 free throws with 46 seconds left to cut the Paladins' deficit down to 62-61. The Terriers scored four of the game's final five points to secure the 66-62 victory.

Wofford led for the first 7:11 to start the game before Furman scored five consecutive points to lead 14-12, capped by Hodges' layup with 2:49 left. Neither team recorded a basket for the remainder of the quarter as the Paladins maintained their two-point advantage.

Furman began the second quarter on a 10-5 run and built its lead out to 24-17 with 5:23 remaining on Taborn's layup. The Terriers responded by outscoring the Paladins 10-2 over a four-minute span and led 27-26 with 59 seconds left before intermission. Manojlovic turned in back-to-back layups to send Furman into halftime leading 30-27.

Manojlovic continued her scoring into the second half, knocking down a 3-pointer on the Paladins' first possession to increase their lead to 33-27. A layup by Hodges with 8:16 left maintained the six-point lead at 35-29. Wofford then scored nine straight points to hold a 38-35 lead at the 5:02 mark. The Terriers went in front by seven points, 44-37, with 2:15 remaining. Furman finished the third quarter recording nine of 10 points and led 46-45 heading to the final period.

The Paladins finished the game shooting 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the field and held a 25-24 advantage in rebounding. Furman also led in points in the paint (36-28), points off turnovers (11-10), second chance points (8-4) and bench points (22-14).

The Paladins resume their road trip on Thursday, February 6 traveling to Samford for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
