ETSU Holds Off Furman In Battle For SoCon Lead, 75-66

Box Score Johnson City, Tenn. – Isaiah Tisdale scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead ETSU to a 75-66 victory over Furman in a battle of Southern Conference men's basketball co-leaders in front of a sellout crowd Wednesday night at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn.
 
The victory improved the Bucs to 24-4 overall and 13-2 in the SoCon, while Furman fell to 22-6 overall and 12-3 in league play.
 
Leading 41-39 with under 16 minutes to play, Tisdale scored eight points during a 12-6 ETSU run, including a pair of triples to start the spurt as the Bucs opened up an eight-point advantage. Furman cut the margin bacl to four points with under 5:30 to go, but Joe Hugley converted on a three-point play and Bo Hodges scored as the shot clock expired on the Bucs' next possession to push the lead back to eight points. The Paladins got no closer than six points over the final three minutes.
 
After leading 35-32 at the break, ETSU posted a 27-9 rebounding edge, including an 11-1 advantage on the offensive glass in the second half to secure sole possession of first place. The Bucs shot 48.1% from the floor, converted on 15-of-20 trips to the foul line and finished with a 41-24 edge on the glass.
 
Hodges joined Tisdale in double figures with 14 points, while Patrick Good and Tray Boyd totaled 13 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Furman shot 42.3% from the field, but made just 6-of-22 shots from behind the arc. Jordan Lyons paced Furman with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting before fouling out with 4:51 to play. Noah Gurley added 14, Clay Mounce scored 12 and Mike Bothwell contributed 11 for the Paladins.
