HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Furman senior Natalie Srinivasan (+1) carded a 72 to tie for tenth Friday in the opening round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the par 71, 6,266 yard Pete Dye Course at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., 14th-ranked Srinivasan teed off of No. 10 and turned at two-over then scored a birdie on her final hole, No. 9, to finish the day three strokes back of leader Rachel Kuehn (-2) of Wake Forest, who tallied a 69 in Friday's opening round.
Junior Carly Burkhardt (+4) is tied for 33rd after posting a 75 with birdies on No. 8 and No. 11, and junior Madison Moosa (+6) enters Saturday's second round tied for 48th after carding a 77 with birdies on No. 9 and No. 15. Sophomore Kyra Cox (+8) recorded a 79 with birdies on No. 6 and No. 12, tying for 65th, and freshman Anna Morgan (+9) finished the day in a tie for 72nd with an 80.
Seventh-ranked Wake Forest (+3) leads the tournament by five strokes over No. 14 UCLA (+8). Three teams are tied for third, including No. 19 Auburn (+10), top-ranked Texas (+10), and No. 20 Baylor (+10). The 33rd-ranked Paladins (+19) are tied for 11th with fourth-ranked South Carolina.
Saturday's second round will begin at 8:30 a.m. with teams starting on No. 1 and No. 10. The Paladins will tee off of No. 10 beginning at 10:10 a.m. and will play in a group with Vanderbilt and South Carolina.
