HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Furman's Natalie Srinivasan (E) fired a one-under 71 Sunday to finish as runner up at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the par 71, 6,266 yard Pete Dye Course at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
A senior from Spartanburg, S.C., Srinivasan, who ranks 14th nationally, teed off on No. 10 and birdied No. 15 and No. 17 to turn at one-under. Through No. 6 she was even par before recording consecutive birdies on No. 7 and No. 8 then adding a bogey on No. 9. Srinivasan finished one stroke back of individual medalist Emilia Migliaccio (-1) of Wake Forest, who recorded rounds of 72-70-70=212 for the victory.Â
"Natalie played really solid this week," said Furman head coach Jeff Hull. "Long Cove played tougher than I have ever seen it, and she played as well as I have seen her play. Finishing even par and in second place is an awesome accomplishment and proves why Natalie is one of the best players in the country. I am so proud of her."
Sophomore Kyra Cox (+20) scored a 78 with a birdie on No. 13 in Sunday's final round to tie for 63rd, and freshman Anna Morgan (+22) tallied a 75 with a birdie on No. 10 to tie for 68th. Junior Carly Burkhardt (+24) scored an 81 on Sunday, tying for 75th, and junior Madison Moosa (+29) finished 83rd after posting a 79 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 15. Â
No. 7 Wake Forest (+3) cruised to a 26 stroke win over 19th-ranked Auburn (+29), while No. 6 Duke (+32) finished third. Fourteenth-ranked UCLA (+33) turned in a fourth-place finish, and top-ranked Texas (+36) rounded out the top five. No. 33 Furman (+61) finished in a tie for 14th with 28th-ranked Georgia (+61).
Furman will compete at the Briar's Creek Invitational in Charleston, S.C., March 16-17.
