Greenville, S.C. – Laurence Wyke, a former Furman men's soccer standout, signed a permanent deal with MLS side Atlanta United, it was announced last month.
Wyke made his MLS debut with Atlanta United in late February after signing a short-term contract. He played the final 45 minutes to help his side to a 2-1 victory over former Paladin Walker Zimmerman and Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.
A two-time All-Southern Conference selection at Furman, Wyke earned SoCon Player of the Year honors in 2017 before helping the Paladins claim the SoCon title and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2018. After signing with ATL UTD2 in the USL Championship last season, he made 29 appearances and netted three goals.
Wyke joins former Paladin goalkeeper Alec Kann to give Furman two players on the Atlanta United roster this season.
