GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman football standouts
Adrian Hope and
Devin Wynn have been named HERO Sports 2020 Preseason All-Americans, it was announced today.
Hope, a redshirt junior bandit and two-time All-America selection, registered 39 tackles, including a team leading nine tackles for-loss and another squad high 6.5 sacks in 2019, in helping Furman to an 8-5 campaign that yielded a consensus No. 16 national ranking in two major polls and trip to the FCS playoffs. Â The 6-foot-1, 218-pound Ocala, Fla., product, who as redshirt freshman garnered Associated Press second team All-America honors in 2018, already ranks third in Furman history with 21.5 sacks.
Wynn is coming off a superb 2019 campaign that saw him rush for 1,182 yards and a team leading 14 touchdowns — Furman's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2013.  A first team All-Southern Conference pick a year ago, the 6-foot, 203-pound Greensboro, Ga., native and true senior heads into the 2020 season ranked 15th on Furman's career rushing yards chart with 1,957 yards.
Hope and Wynn are among 14 returning starters and 47 lettermen expected to be on hand when Furman opens preseason camp, tentatively set for Aug. 6. Â The Paladins kick off the 2020 season on Sept. 5 at home against SoCon foe Wofford.
Furman was ranked 14th in
HERO Sports' 2020 FCS Preseason Top 25 Poll, which was released on Wednesday.
