GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's women's basketball team returns to action this weekend when it plays host to Southern Conference foe Chattanooga in a pair of games at Timmons Arena.

The Paladins (4-6, 0-1 SoCon) and Mocs (6-4, 1-0 SoCon) tip off the two-game set on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and play again on Sunday in a 2:00 p.m. contest.  The two-game weekends are a product of the unique schedule adopted by the SoCon due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both games will be live streamed via ESPN+, and fans can also follow the action thru StatBroadcast live stats available via FurmanPaladins.com.

Furman tipped off SoCon play on Saturday in Spartanburg, dropping a 61-54 verdict to Wofford.  Chattanooga, a preseason No. 2 pick by league head coaches, downed East Tennessee State, 68-51, at home to open its league slate in successful fashion.

Chattanooga holds a commanding 54-24 advantage in the series and claimed both games a year ago, including 69-63 decision last year in Greenville.  The last four years have been a different story, however, as Furman has won five of the last nine clashes.

Head coach Jackie Carson's Paladins are paced by senior small forward Tierra Hodges (16.0 ppg), who also tops the SoCon in rebounding (10.4 rpg).  Freshman guards Sydney James (10.9 ppg) and Tate Walters (9.1 ppg) have gotten her Paladin careers off to solid starts despite missing a pair of recent games.

Furman's challenging early season schedule continues next week when the Paladins travel to Macon, Ga., for Thursday and Saturday contests against the Bears, the SoCon's preseason No. 1 pick by the coaches.
