GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Bria Dial scored 19 points and Chattanooga used a decisive 16-0 second quarter run to take command en route to a 68-56 victory over Furman in Southern Conference women's basketball action Friday evening at Timmons Arena.
The victory improves Chattanooga to 7-4 on the season and 2-0 in SoCon play while Furman falls to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in league action.
The two teams play again Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Holding an 18-17 advantage two and a half minutes into the second quarter, Eboni Williams opened the 16-0 run with a layup and Dial finished off the flurry with a 3-pointer — part of a string of three straight treys by the Mocs — to give UTC a 34-17 lead with 2:22 to go in the first half.
Chattanooga was never seriously threatened in the second half and finished the game shooting 48.3 percent from the field, converting 28-of-58 shots, including 7-of-18 from 3-point range.

Paraskevi Koilia sustained a serious leg injury, which required air splints before the Athens, Greece, freshman was removed from the court on a stretcher.
Koilia's apparent season ending injury was the second of the season suffered by Furman's back court after starting senior second guard
Jarya Outten sustained a torn ACL in early December.
