Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Tierra Hodges scored 18 points and claimed her season's fifth double-double with 14 rebounds to help Furman roll past Queens, 67-53, in women's basketball action Sunday afternoon at Timmons Arena.

Hodges, a redshirt senior small forward, made 6-of-13 field goal attempts and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line for Furman (3-5), which played its first game since Dec. 20.  Celena Taborn followed with 12 points and 10 caroms, and Grace van Rij and Tyah Hunter rounded out the Paladins' double figure scoring display with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

With five players sidelined, including two of the her squad's top three top scorers, head coach Jackie Carson watched her two available veterans help the Paladins take command early.  Taborn, a 6-foot-3 senior forward, delivered 10 first quarter points to give the Paladins an 18-12 lead.  Hodges followed with her own 10-point second quarter to send Furman into the break up, 35-22.

The Paladins put the game away in the third quarter with a 20-2 run fueled by eight points from junior Greenville native Greyson Boon, to go up, 55-24 with three minutes remaining.

From that point, and including most of the fourth period, Carson relied mostly on the back end of her available roster to cruise to the victory.

Furman, which never trailed, shot 41.4 percent from the field, converting 24-of-58 shots, and made 15-of-19 free throws.  The taller Paladins dominated the boards, posting a 50-29 advantage led by Hodges' 14 caroms.

Hunter's 10 points matched a career high.

Kalaya Hall paced Queens (0-5) with 16 points and seven assists, and Christina Deng finished with 13 points for the Royals.

The Paladins return to action on Tuesday when they play host to North Greenville in a 7:00 p.m. contest at Timmons Arena.
