Furman's Roberto Named SoCon Player Of The Week

Redshirt Sophomore Rushed for 196 Yards, 4 TDs Versus Western Carolina

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman running back Dominic Roberto has been named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week presented by GEICO, the league office announced today.

Roberto, a 5-foot-11, 242-pound redshirt sophomore ran 24 times for a career high 196 yards and four touchdowns in Furman's 43-42 road loss at Western Carolina on Saturday.  His scores included a pair of three-yard plunges, and the other two covered 11 and 35 yards.

Furman rushed for a season high 316 yards in Saturday's contest.

The Fayetteville, N.C., product's work against the Catamounts topped his previous career high 132-yard performance registered in a 24-14 win over The Citadel in Paladin Stadium on Oct. 16, an outing that included a 90-yard scoring burst — the second longest run in Furman history.

Roberto has rushed for 393 yards (6.9 ypg) and five touchdowns this fall.

Furman plays host to VMI this Saturday in a 2:00 p.m. contest that will include pregame ceremonies honoring Paladin senior players.
