GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's women's basketball team enters the final week of the regular season with three home games on the docket, beginning with a Friday, 7:00 p.m. matchup against Western Carolina at Timmons Arena.

The Paladins (7-13, 3-8 SoCon) and Catamounts (5-14, 2-7 SoCon) conclude their two-game weekend series on Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. clash that will feature senior day festivities as Furman honors seniors Tierra Hodges, Tyah Hunter, Jarya Outten, and Celena Taborn.  Both games this weekend are presented by Southern Recognition.

Furman, which dropped a pair of contests at UNCG last weekend, enters the Western Carolina series in sixth place in the Southern Conference standings, a game up on seventh-place Western Carolina, which has lost four straight.

The Paladins have gone 3-1 in their last four outings, which includes a split with Chattanooga and sweep of East Tennessee State two weeks ago.  Furman has played only seven home games this year — the second lowest number among SoCon teams.

Hodges, an All-SoCon performer, has been a beacon for head coach Jackie Carson's squad this season, averaging 16.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, which rank second and first, respectively, in the SoCon.  The Covington, Ga., product recently became the 26th player in program history to join the 1,000-point club (1,051/23rd) and now ranks sixth on Furman's career rebounds ledger (855).

Taborn, who has stepped up her game of late, averaging 11.8 points per game over the last six contests,  contributed 29 points and 15 rebounds in two outings against UNCG.  The native of Sidney, Ohio, currently ranks 18th on Furman's career scoring chart (1,170 points) and seventh in blocks (115), in addition to being on the verge of establishing a new program career field goal percentage standard with her current .625 clip.

Freshman Sydney James has also fashioned a solid inaugural season for the Paladins, averaging 10.4 points per game, highlighted by a pair of 20-point performances versus Elon and Samford.

Furman, which has won six straight and nine of the last 10 outings against Western Carolina, holds a 46-35 lead in the all-time series.

Both games this weekend will be carried live streamed via ESPN+.
