Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team returns to action on Saturday night when it renews its Southern Conference rivalry versus UNC Greensboro. Kickoff at UNCG Soccer Stadium in Greensboro, N.C., is set for 7 p.m.
Furman improved to 3-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league play with a thrilling 2-1, double overtime triumph at ETSU last Friday night.
Jake Raine netted both goals for the Paladins, including the match-winning score in the 106
th minute.
Ben Hale made several crucial saves to notch his third win in goal.
The Paladins' Tuesday home contest versus Wofford was postponed to a later date due to inclement weather and wet field conditions at Stone Stadium. UNCG moved to 4-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in league play with a 1-1 draw versus Mercer in its league opener.
Saturday's match marks the 41
st meeting between Furman and UNCG with the Spartans boasting a 19-17-4 series lead. Furman has won each of the last two meetings between the schools, including a 1-0 triumph in Greenville last season and a 3-0 decision in the 2018 SoCon Men's Soccer Championship Match in Johnson City, Tenn.
