No. 35 Furman To Travel To Chattanooga & Samford

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The 35th-ranked Furman women's tennis team will travel to Chattanooga Thursday at 2 p.m. then visit Samford on Friday at 2:30 p.m.  Live stats of the Chattanooga match will be available via www.furmanpaladins.com.

Furman (15-6, 3-0 SoCon) cruised past UNC Greensboro, 6-1, Friday then blanked Davidson, 7-0, on Saturday.  The Paladins have won 14 out of their last 16 matches and hold Power 5 victories over Alabama, 16th-ranked Wake Forest, No. 18 South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Clemson this season.  Furman is 4-0 versus teams in South Carolina, having defeated USC, Clemson, Presbyterian, and Wofford.

Paladin senior Katarina Kozarov is ranked seventh nationally in singles, tying the highest ranking in the history of the program, and junior Julia Adams is ranked 77th.  The Furman doubles team of Kozarov and Adams is ranked 16th nationally, marking the highest doubles ranking in the program's history.

The Mocs are 8-5 overall and 1-1 in league play after losing at Wofford, 5-2, on Saturday.  Furman defeated Chattanooga, 5-2, in Greenville last season to take a 40-9 series lead.

Samford is 10-8 overall and 1-1 versus SoCon opponents after dropping a 5-2 decision to ETSU.  The Paladins defeated the Bulldogs, 7-0, in Birmingham during the 2019 regular season then beat Samford, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Championships that season.  Furman leads the all-time series, 13-4.
