Greenville, S.C. – For the third consecutive year, the Furman women's lacrosse team will face the Mercer Bears for the SoCon championship on Saturday afternoon with opening draw slated for 12 p.m. at Mercer's Five Star Stadium.

Tickets for Saturday's game will be $5 cash only and can only be purchased at the stadium ticket office the day of the game. Students will get in for free with a valid student ID.
The Paladins and Bears are meeting in the SoCon finals for the third straight season after playing for the championship in 2018 and 2019. Furman leads the all-time series 6-2 and won the earlier meeting this season, securing an 18-12 victory on April 11 in Macon.
Entering as the No. 1 seed at the SoCon Women's Lacrosse Championship, Furman (12-4) broke three tournament records on Thursday in a 21-4 victory over No. 4 Wofford. The Paladins set new marks for goals (21), points (30) and margin of victory (17).
Hannah Demis and
Kyra LaMotte both recorded a game-high seven points, which tied for third-most in a game in tournament history. Demis' five assists are tied for the most in a game in tournament history and LaMotte's six goals rank second.
Demis became the program's single-season points leader in the victory, surpassing the previous record set by
Abby Shields in 2017.
Avery McIlwaine scored a career-high four goals while
Sophie Shaw compiled a career-best four points.
Meagan Beal also provided a hat trick. LaMotte registered four ground balls and
Ellie Roser three caused turnovers. Demis won five draws. In goal,
Meghan Deehan finished with two saves and one ground ball.
Mercer (6-7), the tournament's third seed, earned a 13-11 victory over No. 2 Coastal Carolina on Thursday evening. Hailey Rhatigan led the Bears with 10 points on six goals and four assists, while Kayla Soltys added three draws and two caused turnovers. In goal, Iseabal Cryne made 12 saves and grabbed a team-high four ground balls.
LaMotte scored six goals in the first meeting of the year against Mercer on April 11 in Macon, while Beal, McIlwaine and
Hannah Dintino each collected a hat trick. Demis provided five points on three assists and two goals, and
Sydney McClure added three points on two assists and a goal.
Lindsey Kelly contributed two assists.
Avery Whitehead tallied six draws and
Regan Lingo caused two turnovers. Deehan made five saves and led the team with three ground balls.
