Furman's Sisson Named To 2020-21 FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman quarterback Hamp Sisson has been named to the 2020-21 Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team, it has been announced.

Sisson, a rising junior from Birmingham, Ala., was among 54 players named to the squad, which has been selected annually over the last 23 years.

Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in 50 percent (50%) of the games played at their designated position.

Sisson made starts in all seven games during the spring season and completed 89-of-172 passes for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns.  He also rushed for a score.

He earned Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Mar. 10 after passing for 277 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for another score in Furman's 44-37 overtime win over Samford, helping rally the Paladins from a 24-7 deficit to the victory.

The comeback win was Furman's largest in Paladin Stadium history (1981).

Sisson, a health and exercise science major who sports a 4.00 overall grade point average, is a three-time SoCon Academic Honor Roll selection.
