Furman Set for SoCon Showdowns with Western Carolina, ETSU

Game Times are 6 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Sunday

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's soccer team remains at Stone Stadium this weekend to host the Western Carolina Catamounts and East Tennessee State Buccaneers in a pair of Southern Conference matchups.

The Paladins begin the weekend on Friday at 6 p.m. against Western Carolina and then hosts East Tennessee State on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. Both games are being streamed via paid subscription on ESPN+. Updates will also be posted on the Furman women's soccer Twitter page (@FurmanWSoccer).

Tickets for both games are $5 and can be purchased at www.furmanpaladins.com or at the Stone Stadium entrance one hour prior to kickoff. Tickets for Furman students are free with their student ID.

Friday's contest against Western Carolina is Furman's Breast Cancer Awareness Game. Fans who wear pink to the match for Breast Cancer Awareness will receive free admission.

The Paladins (4-3-1, 0-1 SoCon) opened league play on September 24 dropping a 3-2 decision at home to Wofford. Isabella Gutierrez led Furman with three points on her third assist and first goal of the season. Julia Nicholas also scored her first goal of the year. Gutierrez and Jasmine Greene combined for 17 shots in the contest with Gutierrez leading all players with nine and Greene contributing eight. Nora Sampson finished with four saves and Addison Corn three.

Furman concluded the game leading 27-16 in shots and 13-10 in attempts on goal. The Paladins also held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Kyndal Anderson leads Furman offensively this season with eight points on a team-high four goals. Nieva Gaither has dished out a team-leading four assists. In goal, Corn and Sampson have combined for 34 saves. Corn has a .750 save percentage and 1.15 GAA, while Sampson adds a .889 save percentage and 0.69 GAA.

Western Carolina currently sits at 6-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SoCon, while East Tennessee State is 3-2-3 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference play.

Furman leads the all-time series over the Catamounts 20-7-1 and holds a 14-2 advantage against the Buccaneers.

The Paladins are on the road next weekend, October 8-10, for a pair of SoCon contests against Chattanooga and Samford.
