AUBURN, ALA. -- No. 25 Auburn slipped past Furman, 4-3, Sunday in women's tennis action at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Ala.

The Tigers won two of three doubles matches to take the first point.  At flight two, Carolyn Ansari and Selin Ovunc defeated junior Madison Dillon and freshman Jess Dawson, 6-4, and Madeline Meredith teamed with Anastasia Astakhova to beat freshmen Sara Snyder and Ellie Schulson, 6-0, at number three.  In the unfinished number one match up, senior Julia Adams and sophomore Ellie Schoppe were tied, 4-4, with Georgie Axon and Adeline Flach. 

Adams, who ranks 45th nationally, topped 79th-ranked Ovunc, 6-3, 6-3, at flight one singles to tie the match at 1-all.  Auburn then scored the next three singles points to clinch the match.  Yu Chen downed Dawson, 6-3, 6-4, at flight five,  and Axon beat 65th-ranked Snyder, 6-4, 6-2, at number four.  At flight two, Ansari, who ranks 115th, topped Dillon, 6-2, 6-3.  

The Paladins scored the final two points, as Schulson recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Astakhova at number six, and Schoppe held off Flach, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-7), at flight three.

Furman (3-1) will compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend next Saturday and Sunday in Durham, N.C.  The Paladins are slated to face Oklahoma Saturday at 10 a.m. in the weekend's opening match.
