Furman Volleyball Adds Walch for 2023 Season

Greenville, S.C. – Furman head volleyball coach Michelle Young announced today the addition of Lindsay Walch, who will be joining the Paladins for the 2023 campaign.

A native of Palm City, Fla., Walch is a 6-2 middle blocker that currently attends Jensen Beach High School. She plays for head coach Mike Sawtelle at Jensen Beach. Walch also competes on the club circuit for High Tide.

"We are so excited about Lindsay," said Young. "She is a true competitor that brings a ton of power and volleyball savvy. She is an athlete that does a ton of work for any team she plays on, and we look forward to her making an early impact in our program. We can't wait to get her and her wonderful family to Furman!"

Walch has played on three consecutive district championship teams at Jensen Beach while capturing two region championships. This season, Jensen Beach has won over 20 matches, including the premier division at the Nike Tournament of Champions, and will be playing for a Class 5A state championship on Saturday. Over the past three years, Jensen Beach has combined to go 70-10 and finished runner-up at the state championship during her sophomore season.

Walch was an honorable mention all-area performer as a sophomore and followed the next year by earning first team all-area and offensive player of the year accolades while being named to the AVCA Phenom List. This season, she is a third team AVCA All-American and FACA district player of the year. Walch also garnered AVCA high school all-region accolades and was placed on two all-tournament teams at the East Coast Challenge and Nike Tournament of Champions.

Academically, Walch earned a spot on the AVCA third team best and brightest which honors individual high school senior student-athletes who excel on and off the court.
