KNOXVILLE, TENN. -- Top-ranked Tennessee downed Furman 5-2, Tuesday at Barksdale Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Paladins scored at flight two and flight six singles.  Freshman Jamie Connel held off 51st-ranked Emile Hudd, 7-6(9-7), 6-4, at flight two, and graduate student Drew Singerman came from behind for a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(15-13) victory over Conor Gannon at number six.

Furman also picked up a victory at flight one doubles, where Connel teamed with graduate student Ivan Mitric.  The Paladin duo knocked off ninth-ranked Hudd and Shunsuke Mitsui, 6-1, in the top-seeded match up.

The Vols won the doubles point with wins at flights two and three.  No. 57 Adam Walton and Pat harper held off senior James Roelofse and sophomore Emil Westling, 7-5, at flight two, and Johannus Monday and Mark Wallner defeated freshmen Cole Burnam and Elijah Poritzky, 6-4, at number three.

Tennessee scored four singles points for the victory.  Monday, who ranks sixth-nationally, beat Mitric, 6-4, 6-1, at number one, and Angel Diaz topped Poritzky, 6-4, 6-2, at flight three.  In the number four contest, Martim Prata defeated Westling, 6-4, 7-6(5), and at flight five, Mitsui recorded a 6-4, 6-0 advantage over Roelofse. 

The Paladins (8-3) will entertain Elon Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
