CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- No. 23 Furman buried No. 43 Charlotte, 4-2, Sunday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

Furman scored four singles points for the victory.  Senior Julia Adams, who ranks 51st nationally, topped No. 120 Margaux Maquet, 6-3, 6-3, and sophomore Ellie Schoppe held off Ruxi Schech, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.  At flight four singles, freshman Sara Snyder outlasted Lucia Quiterio, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1, and at number six, freshman Jess Dawson defeated Kaavya Sawhney, 6-4, 6-3.

The 49ers won the doubles point and scored at flight three singles.  At flight one doubles, 31st ranked Maquet and Quiterio handed 24th-ranked Adams and Schoppe a 6-4 loss, and at number three doubles, Rocio Safont and Lucie Petruzelova defeated junior Maggie Pate and Dawson, 6-3.  In singles, Safont recorded a 6-2, 6-2, victory over senior Madison Dillon. 

The flight five singles match was unfinished.  Freshman Ellie Schulson won the first set, 6-2, before Emma Wilkins answered with a 6-2 victory in set two.  Schulson led, 4-2, in the third set when the match was called. 

Furman (11-5) will entertain Wofford Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
