GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman outdoor track and field teams recorded 17 top-20 finishes Friday at the 54th Tennessee Relays at the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn., and the Joe Walker Invite at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex in Oxford, Miss.

At Ole Miss, sophomore Megan Marvin finished seventh in the women's 1,500m with a time of 4:20.55, while sophomore Madelynne Cadeau turned in a 20th-place finish at 4:26.86.  On the men's side, sophomore Carson Williams placed seventh in the men's 1,500m with a time of 3:43.67, which ranks among the top 25 on the NCAA East Preliminaries qualifying list.  Senior Aaron Wier was 18th in the event at 3:48.86, while freshman Matthew Smith crossed the line in 3:49.80 for 20th place. 

At the Tennessee Relays, freshman Gabe Montague finished fourth in the 1,500m with a time of 3:52.76, while freshman Nick Goldstein was eighth in the 5,000m at 14:46.38.  Freshman Ethan Vargas turned in a time of 15:15.71 for 16th-place in the 5,000m.  Junior Jonah Dill placed eighth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.89 and 13th in the 110 hurdles at 15.29.  In the men's 3,000m Steeplechase, freshman Foster Wilfong recorded a time of 9:30.22 for 11th place, followed by junior Josh Powers in 13th place with a time of 9:31.56.

On the women's side at Tennessee, junior Nicole Matysik finished sixth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:33.50, while freshman Sierra Bower won her heat and placed 13th overall at 4:36.32.  Sophomore Emily Little crossed the line in 17:00.73 for eighth place in the 5,000m, and freshman Monica Seitz finished 19th with a time of 1:00.96 in the 400m.  In the 400m hurdles, junior Caroline Nguyen tallied a time of 1:14.28 for 17th place.

The Paladins will compete in the second day of the Joe Walker Invite at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex in Oxford, Miss., on Saturday.
