GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman head football coach
Clay Hendrix announced today the addition of graduate transfer tight end Parks Gissinger to the Paladins' program.
Gissinger, who graduated from Michigan State in December of 2021, was a two-year letterman from the Spartans, seeing action in eight games over two campaigns. He earned playing time in the first four games of the 2021 season and earned Co-Special Teams Player of the Week honors in a 23-20 win over Nebraska before having his year cut short due to injury. As a redshirt freshman in 2019, he recorded a five-yard reception in the Spartans' 27-21 victory over Wake Forest in the Pinstripe Bowl.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Gissinger was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree during his tenure in East Lansing.
A marketing major at Michigan State, he will enroll in Furman's Master of Arts in Strategic Design program.
Gissinger is a product of Chaminade College Prep in Los Angeles, Calif., where he was a standout defensive end and tight end. His late father, Andrew, played offensive line at Syracuse and was a sixth-round selection by the San Diego Chargers in the 1981 NFL Draft.
He is the 16th player to sign with the Paladins since December. The Paladins inked 11 recruits during the early signing period, a transfer in early January, two more recruits in the February signing period, and two transfers this spring.
