Davidson, N.C. – Riley Patton's 29
th minute goal proved to be enough as Davidson downed Furman, 1-0, in non-conference soccer action Sunday afternoon at 1992 Team Field in Davidson, N.C.
Patton blasted her shot into the top-right corner at the 28:58 mark to stake the Wildcats to a 1-0 first half lead before the match entered a weather delay in the opening minute of the second half that last an hour.
Davidson's back line limited the Paladins to just one shot on goal over 90 minutes as goalkeeper Mary Grace Bunch notched one save to earn the victory.
Addison Corn stopped one shot for Furman, while
Nora Sampson recorded two saves in her 45 minutes between the pipes.
The Wildcats (3-0-1) posted a 10-5 edge in shots and a 5-1 advantage in shots on target.
Furman (2-2-0) returns to Stone Stadium on Tuesday to host the Bob Jones Bruins. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
