GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's cross country team will compete at Oklahoma State's Cowboy Jamboree Saturday in Stillwater, Okla., on the Greiner Family Cross Country Course, which will be the site of the 2022 NCAA Championships. The men's 8K is slated for 8:30 a.m. CT/9:30 a.m. ET.
Eight of the nation's top ten men's squads will compete Saturday in Stillwater.
"It is a bit early in the season, and we won't run our full team on Saturday, but we are excited to see where our team stacks up nationally and to preview the NCAA course," said Paladin head coach Robert Gary.
The Furman men's team is ranked 23rd in this week's USTFCCCA national preseason poll. The Paladins, who have captured the last nine Southern Conference Championships, won last weekend's Furman Cross Country Invitational 5K in Greenville. Furman claimed the top four individual slots and scored 17 points for the victory.
Four Paladin runners crossed the line in tandem, separated by less than half a second. Sophomore Nick Goldstein took the victory in 14:29.23, followed by senior Adam Beucler in second with a tie of 14:39.32. Junior Carson Williams was credited with third place at 14:39.53, followed by junior Dylan Schubert in fourth place at 14:39.85.
Along with these four athletes, seniors David Ahlmeyer and Mac Roberts, sophomore Foster Wilfong, and freshman Colton Kempney will complete the Furman lineup in this weekend's Cowboy Jamboree.
