Furman Women's Golf

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman (+2) placed two golfers among the top five to win the 48th Lady Paladin Invitational Sunday at the par-72, 6,256-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.

"It's always great to get a win on your home course," said Furman head coach Jeff Hull, who led Furman to its second-straight Lady Paladin Invitational title and 20th tournament championship since he joined the Paladin staff.  "Anna and Sarah-Eve proved to be the anchors of our team, and it was refreshing to see everyone else play so well coming down the stretch."

Senior Anna Morgan (-7) shot a 1-under 71 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 3 to tie for runner-up, finishing one stroke back of North Florida's Christin Eisenbeiss (-8), who won the tournament by one stroke with scores of 68-72-68=208.  Mariana Mesones (-7) of Minnesota tied with Morgan for second place after establishing a new low final-round record of 64 with eight birdies on Sunday.  The round ties the overall tournament record, which was set by Jiwon Jeon of Daytona State in 2017.

Senior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (-4) fired a 69 with a team-high seven birdies in the final round to tie for fifth place.  She birdied her first two holes and turned at 1-under, then added four birdies on the back nine.

Freshman Faith Johnson (+5) posted a 1-under 71 in the final round to tie for 17th.  She notched four birdies, including three in her last four holes to finish the tournament.  Freshman Liza Lapeyre (+9) tied for 35th after scoring a 73 with four birdies on Sunday, and freshman Chloe Johnson (+10) tied for 39th with a 75 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 9 on Sunday.

Sophomore Caroline Crumrine (+10), played as an individual, recorded her best round of the tournament on Sunday, tallying a 73 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 17 and No. 18, to tie for 39th.

Furman will compete at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup, which is hosted by Ohio State University in Dublin, Ohio, Oct. 3-4.
