Furman, Presbyterian Battle To 2-2 Draw Tuesday Night

Paladins Host ETSU On Saturday Night

Greenville, S.C. – Lloyd Wamu Snell and Christian Kraus each netted a goal to help Furman rally twice from a one-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Presbyterian in non-conference men's soccer Tuesday evening at Stone Stadium.

The Blue Hose (5-7-2) opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Damorney Hutchinson converted from the penalty spot following a handball in the box. The Paladins equalized less than four minutes before halftime. Tommy Redhead nodded Caleb Johnson's corner kick into the middle of the box and Wamu Snell fired his chance into the right-hand side of the net at 41:14 to knot the score at 1-1. The goal marked the first of the season for the sophomore.

Jamari Busby put the Blue Hose back on top at the 46:46 mark by lining his shot from the right side of the box into the far left-hand corner following a failed clearance for his first goal of the campaign. After Victor Faaborg Christen nearly doubled the PC lead, only to be denied by the right post, Furman leveled the score once again at 65:24. Johnson and Ivan Agyaakwah played a give-and-go deep on the left wing. Johnson's low cross slipped by the goalkeeper inside the six-yard box and Kraus tapped in the bouncing ball for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.

"It was great to get a goal for Wamu tonight," said Paladin head coach Doug Allison. "That was a really good match and a good one to coach in as well. We were able to play a lot of guys and get a result with help from everyone tonight."

Both teams threatened to find the match-winning goal late in the contest with Presbyterian striking a shot off the cross bar and Furman's Callum Holland firing high on an open look from the top of the box before the teams settled for the draw.

The Paladins posted a 16-12 advantage in total shot attempts and finished with a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Cameron Maung-Maung notched three saves for the Paladins while James Dee stopped four shots for Presbyterian.

Furman (7-3-3) wraps up its regular season home schedule on Saturday at 7 p.m. when it hosts ETSU for Senior Night at Stone Stadium.
