Men's Soccer Renews Rivalry Versus Wofford Saturday Night

Kickoff At Snyder Field Set For 7 P.M.

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team renews its Southern Conference rivalry versus Wofford when it travels to Snyder Field in Spartanburg, S.C., for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.

The regular season finale between the Paladins and Terriers will be streamed live on ESPN+. Links for the live stream and live statistics will be available at FurmanPaladins.com.

Furman, 8-4-3 on the season, enters Saturday night's showdown at 2-1-1 in league play. The Paladins can clinch a top-two finish in the SoCon standings, first round bye in the SoCon Men's Soccer Championship, and home match in the SoCon semifinals with a win at Wofford (6-3-6, 2-0-2 SoCon). A victory on Saturday and an ETSU loss versus Mercer would secure Furman a share of its 22nd SoCon regular season title.

Saturday's match marks Furman's 59th meeting versus Wofford, the most for the Paladins versus any opponent. Furman holds a 41-15-2 series lead and topped the Terriers, 3-2, in the most recent meeting between the schools on November 4, 2022, in the SoCon Tournament first round. Wofford claimed a 2-0 decision in last year's regular season meeting in Greenville.

Furman is coming off a 4-2 victory at Big South Conference member UNC Asheville on Tuesday night in Asheville, N.C. The Paladins trailed 1-0 late in the first half when Charlie Boone leveled the match with his first career goal in the 43rd minute. Lloyd Wamu Snell and Christian Kraus netted second-half goals on assists from Dylan Lane, and Tommy Redhead capped the scoring for the Paladins, who posted their highest single-game goal total since a 6-0 win versus VMI on March 26, 2021.

The SoCon Men's Soccer Championship is set to begin with first round matches on November 3 with the semifinals set for November 5. The championship match will take place the following weekend at the home field of the highest remaining seed.
