LEXINGTON, KY. -- Saniah Tyler scored 17 points and Kentucky used hot shooting to race past Furman, 75-45, in women's basketball action Sunday afternoon at Rupp Arena.
Tyler, a sophomore guard, drained 6-of-8 shots, including all three 3-point attempts, and a pair of free throws for her game high 17 points. Â As a team Kentucky (5-7) connected on 31-of-54 field goal attempts (54.4 percent) and 7-of-17 3-pointers.
The Wildcats got 16 points from Ajae Petty, 13 from Maddie Scherr, and 10 points from Eniya Russell.
Furman was paced by
Kate Johnson's 12 points. Â Johnson added a game high 10 rebounds for the second double-double of her career.
Kentucky held a 16-15 lead after one period but took command in the second quarter, using a 9-0 run over the final 1:57 of the first half to take a 38-23 lead at intermission.
Furman (7-6), which shot only 31.0 percent (18x58) from the field, suffered through 25 turnovers, which Kentucky converted into 25 points.
The Wildcats edged the Paladins on the boards, 35-34.
Furman plays host to South Carolina State on Thursday in a 7:00 p.m. contest at Timmons Arena.
