LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- Freshman Chloe Johnson (+3) finished in a tie for 21st to pace the Furman women's golf team Tuesday in the final day of The Show, which was co-host by the Paladins and UNLV at the par 72, 6,507 Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A native of Evansville, Ind., Johnson carded a 74 with birdies on No. 1, No. 10, and No. 15 in the tournament's final round. Senior Anna Morgan (+4) shot a 73 with a birdie on No. 10 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 27th, while freshman Faith Johnson (+8) fired a 71 to lead the Paladins in the last round of play. She posted a team-high four birdies, including three on the front, tying for 42nd. Freshman Liza Lapeyre (+19) carded a 79 to finish 80th. Myah McDonald (-9) of New Mexico captured individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 68-70-69=207.
Sixth-ranked Mississippi State (-9) won the tournament by two strokes over No. 30 Pepperdine (-7). New Mexico (-2) finished third, and UNLV (E) placed fourth. No. 49 Denver (+3) completed the top five. Furman (+34) finished 12th, just behind No. 26 Kent State (+26), who took 11th place. The Paladins defeated North Florida (+42), Charlotte (+44), and Washington State (+53).
Furman will compete at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Feb. 27 through March 1 in Hilton Head, S.C.
