GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's women's basketball squad will wrap up its 2022-23 regular season schedule on Saturday when it plays host to Samford at Timmons Arena. Tipoff for the ESPN3 streamed event is set for 2:00 p.m.
Prior to the game Furman will honor graduate forward
Grace van Rij, who will be making her final home appearance. The Knoxville, Tenn., product and All-Southern Conference performer has seen action in 136 games and scored 894 points in her Paladin career.
Furman (10-18, 2-11 SoCon) dropped an 88-69 decision to Mercer on Thursday in its last outing despite a season high 24-point, 10-rebound performance by van Rij, who leads the Paladins in scoring (13.4 ppg). The Paladins have dropped their last four outings.
Samford (13-15, 7-6 SoCon), which suffered a 86-60 loss at Wofford on Thursday, comes to Greenville having also dropped four straight. The Bulldogs downed the Paladins, 81-62, in Birmingham in January.
SoCon Tournament play begins on Thursday, Mar. 2, at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C.
