MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Furman fell to No. 58 Yale and Tulsa, each 4-1, Saturday in the final day of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, which is being held this weekend in Montgomery, Ala.

The Paladins (4-9, 2-0 SoCon) faced the Bulldogs in doubles on Friday night, where Furman won two of three matches to claim the point.  The Bulldogs' Rhea Shrivastava and Vivian Cheng slipped past 51st-ranked Dawson and Snyder, 6-4, at flight one, and Dillon and Vocke posted a 6-4 advantage over Jamie Kim and Rebecca Lynn at flight three.  In the decisive flight two contest, Pennings and Schulson held off Ann Wright Guerry and Sophia Zaslow, 6-1, for the point. 

The teams went to a third set in five of the six singles matches, with Yale (6-4) claiming four wins for the victory.  Shrivastava defeated Schulson, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, at flight one, and Cheng held off Snyder, 2-6, 6-3,  6-1, at number three.  At flight four, Zaslow posted a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0 decision over Dawson, and Kim beat Dillon, 6-2, 6-2, at number six.  Flights two and five were unfinished.

Tulsa (8-5) won two doubles matches to clinch the opening point versus Furman in the final round of the tournament.  The Hurricane then scored three singles points to conclude the match, but Dillon prevented the sweep with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Amy Leather at flight five.  Paladins Snyder and Dawson each forced a third set at flights three and four, respectively, and both were within one game of winning their flights when the match was called.

Furman will travel to California for a spring break trip, where the Paladins will take on Cal State Fullerton on March 6 at 5 p.m.
