FULLERTON, Calif. -- Furman blasted Cal State Fullerton, 6-1, Monday at the Titan Courts in Fullerton, Calif., to kick off the Paladins' spring break trip.  

The Paladins (5-9, 2-0 SoCon) won two doubles matches to take the opening point.  Sophomores Jess Dawson and Sara Snyder, who rank 51st nationally, teamed up to beat Natalie Duffy and Camila Garcia, 6-2, at flight one, and senior Madison Dillon and freshman Luca Victoria Vocke defeated Megan Tagaloa and Kaytlin Taylor, 6-2, at flight three.  The flight two match was unfinished.

In singles, Furman won five matches, four in straight sets, to seal the team win.  Sophomore Marissa Pennings held off Zoe Olmos, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(10-7), at flight two, and Snyder topped Milena Gevorgyan, 6-2, 6-1, at number three.  At flight four, Dawson downed Garcia, 6-2, 6-0, and at number five, Vocke blanked Mariia Nikitash, 6-0, 6-0.  Dillon recorded a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Taylor at flight six.

Duffy scored for the Titans (6-3) at flight one, where she beat sophomore Ellie Schulson, 6-4, 6-2. 

Furman will play at San Diego State Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET.
