Beal Records First Hat Trick of 2023

Gainesville, Fla. – Danielle Pavinelli and Emma LoPinto combined for eight goals and three assists to lead the seventh-ranked Florida Gators to a 20-9 victory over the Furman women's lacrosse team, Tuesday afternoon at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

Furman drops to 0-2 on the season while Florida improves its record to 2-2 overall.

The Gators outscored the Paladins 7-2 in the first quarter, including the game's first five goals, before Sophie Shaw and Meagan Beal netted goals over the final four minutes of the period. Furman would register two goals in the second quarter, and trailed 11-4 at halftime, before scoring two more times in the third. Beal, Hannah Dintino, and Molly Faul would all add a goal during the fourth quarter.

Beal tallied her first hat trick of the season, while Shaw added three points on two goals and an assist, to lead the Paladins offensively. Dintino and Anna Roser both contributed one goal. Reynolds Hester finished with a team high two assists. Beal would go on to win six draws and Roser picked up three ground balls. Shaw and Lily Rathbun both caused one turnover.

In goal, Rathbun registered double-digit saves for the eighth time in her career after totaling 10.

Pavinelli and LoPinto both registered four goals for Florida while LoPinto dished out two assists and Pavinelli one. Ashley Gonzalez led all players with three assists.

Goalies Sarah Reznick and Elyse Finnelle combined for six saves.

Furman is back in action on Friday afternoon opening the home portion of its schedule against East Carolina at 4 p.m.
