Slawson To Play In NABC - Reese's Division I All-Star Game

Friday's Game Airs On CBS Sports Network At 4:30 P.M.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman men's basketball standout Jalen Slawson has been selected to play in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) – Reese's Division I All-Star Game this week as part of the NCAA Final Four in Houston, Texas.

The game, which will air live on CBS Sports Network, will take place on Friday, March 31, at 4:30 p.m. ET at NRG Stadium in Houston. Admission to the game and Reese's Final Four Friday is free.

Slawson, a fifth-year senior, garnered Southern Conference Player of the Year honors and first team All-SoCon accolades inn his final collegiate season after averaging 15.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game. The Summerville, S.C. product was the only player in Division I to total 500 points, 50 steals, and 50 blocked shots this season and joined former No. 1 draft pick Zion Williamson and Kentucky All-American Oscar Tshiebwe as the only players to accomplish the feat in the last five years. He joined fellow fifth-year senior Mike Bothwell as Furman's winningest players with 116 career victories.

With Slawson's help, Furman posted a school record 28 victories, won the SoCon regular season title, captured its first SoCon Tournament crown and NCAA berth since 1980, and topped No. 4 seed Virginia to secure its first NCAA Tournament victory since 1974. Slawson concluded his career ranked 18th in school history in scoring (1,509), ninth in rebounding (839), 12th in assists (364), third in steals (192), and tied for second in blocked shots (182).

Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams will coach the West All-Stars on Friday, while newly-named Iona coach Tobin Anderson will lead the East All-Stars.
