Paladins to Hold Senior Day Ceremony Prior to Opening Draw

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team plays its final home game of the regular season Saturday afternoon when it hosts the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs for Senior Day at 1 p.m. from Paladin Stadium.

The Paladins (7-7, 4-2 Big South) will hold their Senior Day ceremony prior to opening draw. Furman is set to honor six seniors in Meagan Beal, Bella Benoit, Libby Bowen, Tabitha Conrad, Hannah Dintino, and Alana Epstein.

The Paladins last played on April 17 and dropped a 17-11 road decision at Virginia Tech in their final non-conference game of the regular season. Furman, who forced Virginia Tech into 12 turnovers, concluded the game with 10 draws and held a 12-9 advantage in ground balls.

Offensively, Anna Roser led the Paladins with five points on three goals and two assists. Dintino added a hat trick while Molly Faul and Sophie Shaw each contributed two goals. Shaw would go on to win a team high six draws and Dintino tied her career best of four ground balls. Abby Shearer provided two caused turnovers. In goal, Lily Rathbun finished with 12 saves, two ground balls, and one caused turnover.

Gardner-Webb currently sits at 3-11 overall and 2-4 in the Big South after defeating Presbyterian in the final seconds, 13-12, on Wednesday. The Runnin' Bulldogs are under the direction of interim head coach Maddie Martin.

Saturday's matchup represents the sixth all-time meeting between Furman and Gardner-Webb. The Paladins have won each of the previous five matchups in the series including a 17-14 victory last season in Boiling Springs, N.C.

Furman begins a two-game road trip to close out its regular season on Wednesday, April 26, heading to Spartanburg for a 6 p.m. opening draw at Wofford.
