GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will complete the road portion of its regular season this week when the Paladins travel to Chattanooga and Samford. On Thursday, Furman will compete at Chattanooga beginning at 1 p.m. at the UTC Tennis Center, and Friday's match versus Samford in Birmingham is slated to begin at 2 p.m. ET at the Samford Tennis Center.
The Paladins enter Thursday's match with a 7-11 overall record and are 3-0 in Southern Conference play after beating Wofford and Liberty last week and dropping a match to No. 39 Charlotte on Sunday. Furman's number one doubles team of Jess Dawson and Sara Snyder ranks 80th nationally.
Chattanooga is 13-5 overall and 2-2 in league play. The Mocs defeated Wofford, 4-3, and UNCG, 7-0, in their last two outings.
Thursday's match marks the 53rd meeting between Furman and Chattanooga, with the Paladins holding a 43-9 series advantage. Furman defeated Chattanooga, 6-1, in Greenville during the regular season last year then blanked the Mocs, 4-0, in the opening round of the SoCon Championship in Chattanooga.
Samford holds an 11-5 overall record and is 3-1 in SoCon action. The Bulldogs defeated Mercer, 4-3, and Wofford, 4-3, last weekend.
Furman is 16-4 versus Samford after sweeping the Bulldogs, 7-0, last season in Greenville.
