Furman Receives ITA All-Academic Team Award; Seven Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team has been honored as an ITA All-Academic Team, and seven Paladins were selected 2022-23 ITA Scholar-Athletes, it was announced today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners must be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2022 and spring 2023) to be considered for the award.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner and have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.

Furman finished the 2023 season with an 11-14 overall record while going 4-3 in the Southern Conference, earning the No. 5 seed for the SoCon Men's Tennis Championship. The Paladins also advanced to the semifinals and has now appeared in the semifinal round every year the tournament has been contested since 2014.
