SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA -- Furman junior Carson Williams earned the bronze medal in the 3,000m Steeplechase as a member of Team USA's U23 world team at the 2023 North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Championships, Sunday in San José, Costa Rica.
Williams, a native of Raleigh, N.C., took third place with a time of 9:30.66 at the championships, which featured athletes from 35 different countries across the NACAC region.Â
A two-time All-American in the event, Williams qualified for the meet after placing 11th at the NCAA Championships in June. He posted a season-best time of 8:38.40 at the preliminaries to take third both in his heat and overall. The reigning SoCon Champion in the Steeplechase, Williams holds a personal-best time of 8:37.65, which he recorded at the 2022 Lee University Last Chance meet.
