Greenville, S.C. – The Furman volleyball team plays its first home match of the season Wednesday evening when it welcomes the UNC Asheville Bulldogs to Alley Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. contest.
Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. The match is being streamed via paid subscription on ESPN+. Updates will also be posted on the Furman volleyball Twitter page (@FurmanVB).
Admission to all Paladin home matches this season is free of charge with first-come, first-serve seating.
Furman (2-1) started its season last weekend defeating Quinnipiac and Morgan State at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. The Paladins opened tournament play on August 25 with a 3-2 victory against Quinnipiac and 3-0 sweep of Morgan State before falling in three sets to host Virginia Tech on August 26.
Ava Augustson, who was named to the Hokie Invitational All-Tournament Team, led Furman with 37 kills and
Ella Abraham dished out 98, highlighted by a career high 41 in the season-opening win over Quinnipiac. Defensively,
Kennedy Seekford turned in 31 digs and
Izzy Castelloe contributed 10 blocks.
UNC Asheville enters the week 3-1 overall following home victories last weekend over Alabama A&M, Maryland Eastern Shore, and North Carolina Central. The Bulldogs are under the direction of first-year head coach Amber Haver.
The Paladins are facing UNC Asheville for the 19
th time in program history with Furman holding an 11-7 advantage in the all-time series. The teams last met in 2004 when the Paladins earned a 3-2 win in Asheville, N.C.
Furman will head to Asheville, N.C. on Friday evening to face the Bulldogs again with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Justice Center.
