Furman Entertains ETSU, Travels To Western Carolina On SoCon Opening Week

Kickoff Slated For 7 P.M. On Thursday

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's soccer team opens Southern Conference play this week when it hosts ETSU at Stone Stadium on Thursday at 7 p.m. before traveling to face Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C., Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+. Links for the live streams and live statistics can be found at FurmanPaladins.com. Admission to Furman's SoCon home opener on Thursday is free.
 
The Paladins, picked sixth in the SoCon in preseason polling of the league's 10 head coaches, posted a 4-3-1 record during non-conference play, including a 2-0 victory over the South Carolina State Bulldogs in their last outing on September 14. Junior Valentina Mosquera leads the Paladins with five goals in the first eight matches while senior goalkeeper Addison Corn has recorded a pair of shutouts.
 
Thursday's home match marks the 19th meeting in the all-time series between the Paladins and Bucs with Furman holding a 16-2-0 series lead. Furman downed ETSU, 2-1, in last year's meeting in Johnson City, Tenn. The Bucs also claimed a victory over South Carolina State in its last outing.
 
Entering Sunday, Furman holds a 22-8-1 series advantage versus Western Carolina and conquered the Catamounts by a 2-0 score in Cullowhee last season.
