Greenville, S.C. – Christian Kraus scored a pair of goals to lead Furman to a 2-1 victory over Winthrop in non-conference men's soccer action Friday night on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.
The victory evened the Paladins' record at 2-2-0 while the Eagles dropped to 1-3-0 on the season.

Doug Allison. "Kraus took his chances well and we had a number of players step up and contribute to help us get the win tonight."
Kraus, a native of Benton, Mo., opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 37
th minute. The forward stripped the ball from a Winthrop defender in the midfield and ripped a shot into the lower right-hand corner from outside the box at the 36:47 mark.
Less than five minutes into the second half, Kraus doubled the lead with his second goal of the night.
Dylan Lane restarted play deep on the left wing following a delay and floated a pass to the far side of the box. Kraus settled the ball and slipped a shot past Winthrop's Vicente Villazon Rettig to increase the Furman lead to 2-0 at 49:09.
The Eagles turned up the pressure and got on the scoreboard with their first goal of the night at the 78:56 mark when Diego Candia played a long ball down the middle of the pitch to Grayson Woodard, who split two defenders before finishing his right-footed chance from inside the box.
Freshman
Aaron Salinas, making his first career start in goal for the Paladins, registered three saves to earn the victory. Villazon Rettig took the loss for the Eagles.
The Paladins managed a 13-9 edge in total shots while Winthrop posted a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Eagles earned nine corner kicks and the Paladins totaled five on the night.
Furman returns to action on Monday at 4 p.m. when it travels to take on Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C.
