Three Athletic Greats To Join Furman Hall Of Fame Feb. 2

Bert, Dozier, Zimmerman To Solidfy Furman Legacies

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Athletic Hall of Fame will open its doors for three new inductees in ceremonies planned for Friday, Feb. 2, at the Huguenot Loft in downtown Greenville.

Tickets to the event, which get underway with cocktails at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and ceremony, are $75 and can be  purchased here..

The Furman Hall of Fame Class of 2023 includes softball standout Lindsey Bert '18, football's Dakota Dozier '14, and United States National Team soccer centerback Walker Zimmerman.

Bert, a native of Tallahassee, Fla., captured Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year honors in 2017 and 2018. The left-hander paced the Paladins to a share of the SoCon regular season title in 2017 before fanning an NCAA Division I-high 353 batters while leading Furman to 41 victories as a senior the following season.

A two-time All-American and three-time All-SoCon selection, Dozier was a four-year starter for the Paladin football team from 2010-13 and recipient of the league's Jacobs Blocking Award his senior year. He paved the way for Furman's 2013 SoCon title and second round NCAA playoff appearance before being selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Dozier spent nine  seasons in the NFL with the Jets, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears.

Zimmerman was a two-time All-America, two-time All-SoCon selection, and the 2011 SoCon Freshman of the Year during his two-year stint with the Furman men's soccer team. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native has served as captain for the United States Men's National Team and guided the U.S. to the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. A five-time MLS Best XI honoree and two-time MLS Defender of the Year, the Nashville SC defender recently completed his 11th season of professional soccer.
