Spartanburg, S.C. – Wofford's Corey Tripp scored 20 points and Kyle Filewich posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Terriers led wire-to-wire in a 77-67 victory over Furman on Saturday evening at Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
The loss snapped Furman's five-game winning streak and dropped the Paladins to 11-10 overall and 5-3 in Southern Conference play. The Terriers improved to 12-9 overall and 5-3 in the league.
Wofford raced out to a 22-9 first half lead as Furman missed 12 of its first 14 shots. The Terriers continued to maintain a 25-15 advantage before

JP Pegues all stroked threes to key a 12-4 Paladin spurt that trimmed the deficit to 29-27 with under 3:30 left in the half. Wofford, however, ended the period on a 10-2 run to carry a 39-29 lead into the locker room and scored 11 of the first 17 points in the second half to extend its run to 21-8 as the Terriers built a 50-35 lead.
PJay Smith scored six points to key a 12-2 Furman run that got the Paladins within 52-47 with 11 minutes to play, but Wofford answered with a 12-2 run of its own, capped by five consecutive points from Anthony Arrington, to help put the Terriers back in control.
Wofford shot 46.8% from the field, held Furman to 31% shooting, and outscored the Paladins 46-14 in the paint. The Terriers grabbed 15 offensive rebounds as part of a 47-34 advantage on the glass to improve to 7-1 at home this season.
Filewich went 8-for-9 from the field while Tripp connected on 8-of-15 shots from the floor and all four of his trips to the foul line. Jackson Sivills added 14 points on 3-of-7 shooting from behind the arc.
Furman knocked down 11 three-pointers in the loss and scored 20 second chance points off 12 offensive boards but managed just seven two-point field goals. Foster finished with 22 points and 10 boards to notch his third double-double in the last four games while Williams and Pegues finished with 15 points apiece. Smith added 11 points.
Furman travels to face The Citadel on Wednesday at McAlister Fieldhouse in Charleston, S.C. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will stream live on ESPN+.
