Paladins Commit Five Turnovers In Loss

Greenville, S.C. – No. 23 Chattanooga forced five turnovers and held Furman to 233 yards of total offense as the Mocs downed the Paladins, 41-10, in Southern Conference action Saturday afternoon at Paladin Stadium.

The Mocs (3-3, 2-1 SoCon) picked off four Furman passes and outscored the Paladins 34-0 over the second and third quarters to snap a three-game losing streak in the series. Chase Artopoeus completed 17-of-25 passes for 232 yards and junior Javin Whatley hauled in 10 catches for 168 yards and a touchdown for a Chattanooga offense that compiled 443 total yards.

Leading 7-3 after the opening quarter, Jude Kelley connected on a pair of second quarter field goals and Justus Durant ran 14 yards for a touchdown with 1:55 left in the half to put the Mocs ahead 20-3. Chattanooga found the endzone on each of its first two drives in the third quarter before Marquise Freeman intercepted a Carson Jones pass and rumbled 47 yards to extend the Mocs' lead to 41-3.

Furman (2-4, 1-1 SoCon) finished with 130 yards rushing and 103 through the air. Myion Hicks led the Paladins with 67 yards rushing and touchdown on 15 carries.
