GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's cross country team is ranked 24th nationally, according to the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.
On Saturday, the Paladin men earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship, which will be held Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis. The men's 10K is set for 11:10 a.m. ET.
Furman finished sixth with 141 points at Friday's NCAA Southeast Region Championship. Fifth-year student Dylan Schubert, a two-time cross country All-American from Loveland, Colo., finished third with a time of 29:49.8 to pace Furman in the 10K race.
Fifth-year student Carson Williams placed 12th with a time of 30:04.0, while freshman Colin Eckerman posted a time of 31:00.7 for 37th place. Sophomore Chris Knight placed 39th at 31:03.0, and fifth-year student Evan Guzman recorded a time of 31:20.6 to take 50th place and conclude the Paladin scorers. Junior Luke Taylor finished 68th at 31:41.1, and senior Nick Goldstein was 73rd with a time of 31:47.4.
The Paladins claimed their 12th-straight Southern Conference titles on Nov. 2. The Furman men scored a perfect 15 points to claim the title, a streak which leads the league. Schubert won the 8K race and established a new course record of 23:40.1. Schubert's win, his third-consecutive individual SoCon title, marked the ninth-straight individual title for the Paladins on the men's side. Â
Prior to the SoCon meet, the Paladin men took down eight ranked teams, including No. 13 Washington, 14th-ranked Michigan, and No. 15 Eastern Kentucky, at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wis. No. 3 Arkansas won the race with 89 points, and Furman scored 418 points for 13th place. Williams paced the Paladins with a time of 23:07.8 to take 13th on the 8K course.Â
Earlier in the season, Furman scored 455 points for 21st place in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational's loaded field, and the Paladins captured the team titles at the Furman Invitational on September 14. Â
