Furman Cruises To Fifth Straight Victory, 124-48

Paladins Post Largest Offensive Output Since 2004.

Greenville, S.C. – PJay Smith Jr. connected on 9-of-10 three-point attempts to score a game-high 29 points and freshman Mason Smith added a career-high 20 as Furman cruised to a 124-48 victory over NCAA Division III Oglethorpe on Wednesday night at Legacy Early College's Parker Gymnasium in Greenville, S.C.
 
The Paladins raced out to a 40-10 lead, built a 62-17 halftime advantage, and outscored the Stormy Petrels 27-2 over the opening five minutes of the second half to notch their largest offensive output and margin of victory since a 126-33 win over Virginia Intermont on December 29, 2004. Furman matched a school-record with 34 assists and Smith's 90% effort behind the arc established a new school record on 10 or more attempts.
 
Mason Smith hit 4-of-11 threes to total his 20 points while forward Cooper Bowser added 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Tom House and Tommy Humphries rounded out Furman's double-figure scorers with 10 points apiece.
 
The Paladins shot 57.6% from the field and finished 17-of-42 from three-point range. They compiled a 64-21 rebounding advantage, outscored Oglethorpe 62-14 in the paint, and posted a 25-0 edge in points off turnovers.
 
Logan Turner led the Stormy Petrels with 14 points while Jaylon Taylor added 12. Oglethorpe shot just 27.9% from the field.
 
Furman (5-0) opens a four-game road swing with a visit to Charleston Southern at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
