Furman To Host Soccer Extravaganza For Down Syndrome Awareness April 11

Greenville, S.C. – Together with Nancy Cooper and the Heller Service Corps, the Furman Men's Soccer team will host the Furman Soccer Extravaganza, a charity fundraiser for Down Syndrome awareness, on Thursday, April 11, at Stone Soccer Stadium.

"I call it 'really bad soccer for a really good cause,'" says Coach Doug Allison, Furman head men's soccer coach.  "I want to bring the whole of Furman's campus together and anyone who has ever wanted to play soccer on Stone Stadium will now get the opportunity. That will be coupled with the platform of raising awareness and funds for Down Syndrome, a cause dear to my heart, and for which we champion every year in the fall with our Quinn Game.  Furman University let's have some fun! I invite you to start stretching, dust off your old boots and come and join in!"

The entire Furman community is invited to come out and enjoy the beautiful game playing as an individual or with a group. Please email Shannon Dobbin at Shannon.Dobbin@Furman.edu for more information or ways support the event.

The extravaganza will run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with each participant/group on the field for at least 30 minutes and 100% of the proceeds will go to Down Syndrome awareness.

Stay tuned to FurmanPaladins.com and Furman soccer's social media accounts for a full schedule and list of events soon.
