AWENDAW, S.C. -- Furman junior Will Morlan (+2) tied for 28th Tuesday to lead the Paladins at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, which was hosted by the University of South Carolina at the par 72, 7,266 yard Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
A native of Alpharetta, Ga., Morlan teed off on No. 10 and birdied No. 16 to turn at 1-over. He played a flawless front nine with a birdie on No. 6 and seven pars to finish the day with an even 72.
Senior Walker Crosby (+6) and sophomore Harris Barth (+6) tied for 45th. Crosby posted a 74 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 18 on Tuesday, while Barth added a 75 with a birdie on No. 4. Sophomore Clark Akers (+7) carded a 1-over 73 with a team-high four birdies in the final round to tie for 55th, and senior Ross Funderburke (+16) recorded a 76 to tied for 78th.
Jack Lundin (-6) of Missouri defeated South Carolina's Frankie Harris (-6) on the third playoff hole to win individual medalist honors. LSU's Jay Mendell (-6) was knocked out on the first playoff hole.
No. 37 LSU (-15) won the tournament by six strokes over 19th-ranked New Mexico (-9). No. 31 Purdue (-7) finished third, followed by College of Charleston (-6) in fourth place. Host South Carolina (-4) completed the top five. Furman (+20) finished 13th in the loaded field, which included seven Power 5 teams.
The Paladins will wrap up the regular season at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn., April 5-7, then turn their sights to the SoCon Championship, which will be held April 21-23 in Greensboro, Ga.
