FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Furman senior Walker Crosby (-2) shot even par to move into eighth place following Saturday's second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, which is being hosted by Vanderbilt at the par 71, 7,112 yard Vanderbilt Legends South Course in Franklin, Tenn.
Crosby, who hails from Memphis, Tenn., opened the round with a birdie on No. 1 then added additional birdies on No. 5 and No. 6. He turned at 1-over then birdied No. 4 and sealed the round with an eagle on the par-5 No. 18 to card a 71 in round two. He is seven strokes behind leader Gordon Sargent (-9) of Vanderbilt, who holds a two-stroke lead after posting rounds of 64-69-133.
Sophomore Harris Barth (+3) shot a 74 with birdies on No. 13 and No. 15 and is tied for 29th with 18 holes to play, while junior Trey Diehl (+4) paced the Paladins with a 1-under 70 and tied Crosby with a team-high four birdies, including three birdies in six holes to end the round.
Junior Will Morlan (+6) added a 75 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to move into a tie for 47th, and senior Ross Funderburke (+9) also scored a 75 with three birdies to tie for 58th. He birdied three of his last four holes to conclude Saturday's play.
Sophomore Zach Frazer (+10), who is playing as an individual, also eagled the par-5 No. 18 to finish the day with a 76 and is tied for 61st.
No. 3 Vanderbilt (-8) extended its lead to ten strokes with a 275 on Saturday. Fifth-ranked Ole Miss (-7) surged into second place, and Middle Tennessee State (-1) moved up into third place. Charlotte (+3) and No. 9 Alabama (+3) are tied for fourth, and UNC Wilmington (+4) is in sixth place. Furman (+11) sits in seventh place, ahead of College of Charleston (+12), Kentucky (+15), among others.
The Paladins are tied for third with a 3.08 scoring average on the par 3s and rank third with a 4.75 scoring average on the par 5s. The Paladins are tied for fourth with 111 pars.
The 54-hole tournament concludes Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET with all teams teeing off on No. 1. The Paladins will tee off starting at 10:20 a.m. ET in the final round and will play in a group with College of Charleston and Kentucky.
