FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Furman senior Walker Crosby (E) tied for 11th to lead the Paladins in Sunday's final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, which was hosted by Vanderbilt at the par 71, 7,112 yard Vanderbilt Legends South Course in Franklin, Tenn.
A native of Memphis, Tenn., Crosby birdied No. 1 then turned at 1-over. He added birdies on No. 14 and No. 18 to finish the day with a 2-over 73 and finish the tournament 11 strokes behind individual champion Gordon Sargent (-11) of Vanderbilt who won the tournament by four strokes with a three-day total of 64-69-69=202.
Sophomore Harris Barth (+3) carded an even 71 with a team-high four birdies, including three-straight birdies from No. 3 through No. 5 to tie for 24th, while junior Trey Diehl (+6) recorded a 73 with consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7 and a birdie on No. 15 to tie for 33rd.
Senior Ross Funderburke (+7) fired a team-low 69 to pace the Paladins on Sunday. He eagled the par-5 No. 14 and birdied No. 8 and No. 18, finishing in a tie for 40th. Junior Will Morlan (+10 tied for 51st after posting a final-round 75 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 13.
Sophomore Zach Frazer (+14), who played as an individual, tallied a 75 with birdies on No. 6 and No. 18 to tie for 62nd.
No. 3 Vanderbilt (-30) won the tournament by 18 strokes over fifth-ranked Ole Miss (-12). Ninth-ranked Alabama (E) finished third, followed by UNC Wilmington (+4), who took fourth place. Middle Tennessee State (+10) completed the top five. Furman (+13) finished seventh, ahead of Charlotte (+17), Kentucky (+24), and Cincinnati (+27), among others.
The Paladins tied for fifth with a 3.15 scoring average on the par 3s and ranked fourth with a 4.73 scoring average on the par 5s. The Paladins tied for fifth with 166 pars.
Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championship, April 21-23, in Greensboro, Ga.
